Haag 3D Solutions (H3DS) provided 3D Laser Scanning for the documentation and construction of 20,000 SF of existing and acitve hospital laboratories and offices.
Contracted by L.F. Driscoll, H3DS was initially required to provide 3D laser scanning of the existing floor space and above ceiling space during non-office hours. This project required extensive coordination so as not to impact office staff or laboratory staff while maintaining that portions of the laboratory remained available at all times.
Working with contractor staff and an approved ICRA plan, ceiling tiles were removed and H3DS staff utilized an elevator tripod to securely raise the scanner above the ceiling grid. This allowed for documentation of the existing above ceiling space prior to any construction or demolition and allowed for design modifications and validation of existing conditions.
H3DS delivered point cloud data and TruView files to the design team and contractors to allow for modifications and coordination of design based upon the existing information. In addition, H3DS field staff set control points that are recoverable, but not easily visible (by hospital staff). These control points will be utilized during the construction phase by the contractor and MEP personnel for the stakeout hangers and equipment and additional validtion (if required).
